Portrait of Joe Hayes, San Francisco brand consultant, writer, and founder of JustSayJoe and WOOF! Dog Sitting & Training.

I partner with companies and individuals to build brands in moments of change and growth. I also work with individuals building personal brands and navigating new chapters in their careers.

My work focuses on employee experience, internal communications, and brand. I help shape how culture is experienced day to day—from onboarding and engagement to leadership storytelling and employer brand.

I’ve led brand, employee experience, and communications work in roles including Creative Director, VP of Marketing, and Head of Employee Engagement. I’ve worked across a wide range of environments, from high-growth startups to global organizations such as Accenture, MycoWorks, and Gilead.

Hi, I’m Joe.

Earlier in my career, as a B2B2C marketer, I developed campaigns and programs for brands including Google, Bank of America, Visa, American Express, Fidelity, and Merrill Lynch.

I’ve helped organizations navigate moments of growth, transformation, and change by building high-performing teams, clarifying strategy, and creating communications that connect. I’m especially passionate about creating workplaces where people feel seen, supported, and valued. My work has included developing inclusion strategies, launching employee resource groups, and helping leaders build cultures where everyone has a voice and a seat at the table.

At the center of my work is a simple idea: a resonant brand becomes the blueprint for what comes next.

I’m also a writer. Under the pen name Joe O’Donnell, I recently completed a memoir about growing up in 1980s Massachusetts, exploring family, memory, and pop music. In San Francisco, I also run WOOF!, my small dog sitting and training business—work that keeps me connected to care, trust, and community.

Joe combines a strong creative vision with a rare openness to feedback.
He brings clarity, warmth, and strategic

thinking to every project.
